
Dr. John Henrik Clarke (January 1, 1915 – July 16, 1998) was a historian, educator, writer, and lecturer whose work centered African and African-American history. He became a major figure in the development of African-centered historical scholarship and Black Studies, lecturing widely on African civilizations, colonialism, resistance, political leadership, and the African diaspora.
